Official Website

Free to download and play (no monthly subscription)
Although you can buy diamonds (in-game currency) with real cash, you can level and play the game without ever spending a dime.  The game play is smooth (it's been out for a year) and boasts 2.5 million subscribers.  The graphics, characters and objects look like WoW.  Screenshots and Videos

Dual Class System
One of the best things about the game is once you hit level 10 you can pick a secondary class.  As you level your two classes you'll inherit skills of your secondary on your primary. You can switch between your primary and secondary when you want (just visit a house servant).  For example, if you select rogue as your primary class and priest as your secondary, you'll inherit some of the healing abilities of your priest on your rogue.  When you decide to switch to your priest as your primary you'll be able to use some of your rogue abilities.  There are 30 different possible class combinations.  It's like having a main and an alt in one!  Read more

Dungeons
There are plenty of caves, etc. to explore, but there are also several different types of dungeons:  Instanced/Persistant: These are what you'd expect with an instanced dungeon.  In our experience so far the boss mobs are no joke and we've been unable to kill all of them we've come across.  Dynamically Created:  In these dungeons the mobs and treasure is randomly generated each time a player enters, so it'll be a surprise when you enter.  Raid Dungeons: Tough dungeons for more than 1 group.  PvP Dungeons:  Special instanced dungeons for PvP battles.  Gated to dungeons: To enter some dungeons you'll need certain reputations or flags. Open PvP
Once you hit level 15 you can kill and be killed by someone not grouped with you and you (or they) may drop loot.  This is not quite as bad as it sounds although there are higher level gankers as you would expect.  It certainly adds a layer of excitment.  You can be neutral or pursue a good or evil path.  If someone kills you they're automatically added to your nemesis list and will remain there until you kill them.  While on your list you will see a message every time they log on or off.  There are also PvP battlefields and dueling.  Read more

Player Housing & Guild Castles
Everyone gets their own house which can be upgraded and decorated kind of like in EQ2.  You also get a 20-slot storage chest for your house which you can use in addition to your bank.  Guilds can build guild castles after they reach level 7.  The castle comes with a guild vault and can be decorated.  The ability to attack a rival guild's castle is coming soon.

Questing to Level
There are tons and tons of quests.  The idea is that you level through questing unlike in Aion which was basically a grindfest.  MoBs will sometimes drop a "buff" which will be an icon that appears above the corpse.  If you run through it you'll get a 2-minute buff which can range from increased exp, increased talent points, +physical or magical dmg, regen and so on.  When you start out you get a goody bag and each time you level up you can open the bag.  The goody bag will contain items like potions, gear upgrading stones, gear, weapons, etc. plus another goody bag for the next level.  This happens all the way up to level 20 and then it slows down to 1 bag per 5 levels.  It's extremely helpful when first starting out.  On a side note, when you're ready to level up your secondary you can go to an entirely new area with new content.  You can also go back to where you leveled your main, or go to the other race's side (human or elf).

Crafting
There are many crafting professions including the old standbys like alchemy, blacksmithing, tailoring and weapon crafting, but there are also new ones like carpentry.  Gathering professions such as mining, herbalism and woodcutting are very important and not only provide you with mats for crafting, but also help you attain your elite skills and donations of these materials are needed for the guild to level and eventually build a castle.

Item Shop
The Item Shop is where you spend forms of currency other than in-game gold.  Other currency types are: diamonds (bought with real cash), rubies (you receive these if you buy something in the shop) and coins that you receive for doing daily quests. (You can do 10 daily quests per day for a total of up to 100 coins per day.)  You open the Item Shop in-game and go shopping.  They offer daily specials, weekend specials and other types of specials especially during the holidays.  In the Item Shop you can buy mounts (like my snow ferret!, but you can also rent mounts with in-game gold), pets, gear upgrade items, potions, treasure keys and other unusual items such as "forgetful fruit" which will let you forget one of your classes if you want to switch to something else or items that let you reset your talent points or even increase your rate of exp for a certain period of time.  Read more

On a side note...
I personally didn't want to play this game.  I was pretty disappointed with how Aion turned out and I certainly didn't think a free game would be worth playing.  However, Venge twisted my arm and downloaded/patched it for me, so I gave it a try.  I'm glad I did because I've been very pleasantly surprised.  If you're looking for something new to try or don't have the cash for another game you should give this a go.  All Verity members are welcome to join us!

That is so similar to WoW I find it scary.

Also, I really agree with your comment on Aion... major let down.

The graphics and interface are very WoWlike, but there are plenty of things that set it apart.  I can't say enough about the dual class system.  I think it's spoiled me now for other games.  :P

Yeh, I would say when you first see the graphics it would be more wow liek than say like Aion or Eq2 or whatever, but as Nettle said so many differences.  And especially since we are on a PVP server with the open worl pvp, makes it interesting hehe....

But many many quests to do, dungeons, etc - fun good times for sure ~

A few more just joined recently and looking forward to others straggling in...

I've been back to WoW and am enjoying the new content and my new character :P The dual spec also rocks. But this sounds interesting and I will be giving it a try. I'll DL and patch it on the weekend.
