/I-R-C/ n. [Internet Relay Chat] – IRC provides a way of communicating in real time with people from all over the world. It consists of various separate networks (or “nets”) of IRC servers, machines that allow users to connect to IRC. IRC is very similar to text messaging, but designed around communicating with large groups of users instead of one on one. - IRChelp.org
How do I get in IRC?
There are several ways to access IRC, but for some people their options are limited because it’s being blocked by work or school.
Using a Desktop IRC Client
These instructions are for connecting to the Verity IRC chat channel using Trillian, but you can use another client such as mIRC. To connect you’ll need to enter a few pieces of information:
Use the settings in the highlighted area as shown:
Note: If for some reason IRC is not a new connection option for you, then go to Preferences -> Plugins -> Check the IRC box.
This should make IRC an available option now.
Using Our Web-based Application
The quickest way to get in IRC is to simply click on the Chat link on the navigation menu. Then enter the nickname you want to use and connect. There is no password for our IRC channel and no need to enter one when connection with this method.
IRC for Mobile Devices
Connect to IRC on the go or in the event work or school has the other methods blocked.
